The human might, time and time again, has proven itself to be boundless, and yet it hasn’t seen anything more significant than our ability to grow on a consistent basis. We say this because the stated ability has already fetched the world some huge milestones, with technology emerging as quite a major member of the group. The reason why we hold technology in such a high regard is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which guided us towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look beyond the surface for one hot second, it will become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired from the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component, in fact, did a lot to give the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and as a result, initiated a full-blown tech revolution. Of course, the next thing this revolution did was to scale up the human experience through some outright unique avenues, but even after achieving a feat so notable, technology will somehow continue to bring forth the right goods. The same has turned more and more evident in recent times, and assuming one construction-themed development ends up with the desired impact, it will only put that trend on a higher pedestal moving forward.
Bosch Power Tools has formally launched an assortment of new power tools, tools that will fuel the growth of its CORE18V platform. According to certain reports, the development in question focuses on oscillating multi-tool and grinder tool categories. Among the former section’s highlights, we have a brand-new 18V Brushless StarlockPlus Oscillating Multi-Tool (GOP18V-34), which brings an enhanced blade grip and cutting performance. The tool further has its battery position rotated by almost 90 degrees so to reduce interference when flush cutting. There is also a vibration control functionality to cut back on vibration by almost 80% compared to the previous generation of the Bosch 18V oscillating multi-tool. Next up, there is 18V Brushless Barrel-Grip Jig Saw (GST18V-50BN), delivering upto 3,500 no-load strokes per minute. Complimenting the same is a variable speed control, which provides a dial to control operating speed, from 500 up to 3,500 no-load strokes per minute. It also delivers a corded-equivalent cutting capability up to 4.9 inches in wood with a cordless design.
Moving on to 18V Brushless Connected Barrel-Grip Jig Saw (GST18V-60BC), which features adjustable blade guide to minimize blade deflection while performing straight or curve cuts. Alongside that, it has four pendulum stages that conceive varied blade strokes to shift from fast cutting to cleaner cuts. Bosch also took this opportunity to introduce a 15-amp 10-in. Jobsite Table Saw with Gravity-Rise Wheeled Stand (GTS15-10). The stated tool comes decked up with dedicated clampzone areas that enable the tabletop to be used as a light-duty, secondary work surface. There is further, somewhat of a bonus, open frame design to instill more durability into the picture. Then, we have Table Saw Dado Insert (TS1014). This one has a solid surface to let the worker custom cut the width and reduce splintering. Apart from that, it also helps you reduce all the wood damage, doing so through precision cuts at 90 degrees and reducing kerf clearance to the thickness of the blade.
“Our team of engineers are innovating relentlessly and are eager to introduce new tools and solutions – from mid-torque impact wrenches to the 18V Brushless StarlockPlus Oscillating Multi-Tool – to help workers optimize performance on the job site,” said Philipp Gosau, director of product development for Bosch Tools North America. “The new StarlockPlus Oscillating Multi-Tool combines improved user handling, increased cutting performance with outstanding blade grip and reduced vibrations up to 80% from previous generations, creating an elevated experience for workers when tackling the toughest of applications.”
Now, we must get into the grinder tool category. Here, you’ll see an 18V Brushless 4.5- to 5-inches Angle Grinder with No Lock-On Paddle Switch (GWS18V-10P). This one offers a brushless motor that conceives comparable 10 amps of performance, and an adjustable tool-free guard to allow the user to position the guard in a variety of working angles. There is also a kickback control functionality to help shut the tool off if the wheel gets into a binding situation. Hold on, we still have a few bits left to unpack, considering the next thing Bosch announced was a SDS-plus 1/2-In. Dust Collection Attachment. Boasting a mobile dust extractor design, the attachment uses a removable dust container with a capacity for up to 20 holes. This container can use 1/2-in. diameter bit to drill about 2-in. deep into concrete. In case that doesn’t do the job, the tool also has a specialized dust control facility which notably reduces harmful airborne silica dust.
Turning our attention to batteries, the new tools are largely powered by an 18V CORE18V Lithium-Ion 6 Ah High Power Battery (GBA18V60), which delivers 50% more runtime and over 75% more power than the company’s older CORE18V 4 Ah battery. The new iteration also puts on the table two layers of 21700 cells, and a CoolPack 2.0 technology to sustain the battery when overworked. Rounding off the highlights is an AMPShare Compatibility System that is compatible across many cordless products.
